My dislike of Solange has nothing to do with her quirkiness because I enjoy the differences, I have pink high heeled cowboy boots so I am one of Those people that get the stares. not a fan of her music but i appreciate her originality. For me (as an onlooker because I don't know her) she seems to try so hard to be the different one that i don't see it as authentic. I watched her interviews about her cutting her hair and it was a direct contradiction to statements she made when she first cut them off. her attitude was wtf its just hair, not trying to make a statement but now that she has been seen as the face of the BC her answers are now politically correct. she says she was tired of being a slave to black women's hair issues...

When she first got shade about the issue, she made statements like: "what`s the big deal? its JUST hair, get over it" "I`ve done this before, it was not for attention, its nothing new to me" and "I`m at a point in my life where my money and time could be better spent in places other than the hair salon"
They didn`t sound contradictory, just more in-depth than you can fit into a twitter rant.
I think people are so hung up on trying to "get" Solange that they discredit her authenticity and regard her as trying to carve her own niche. Well hell, what is she supposed to do? The girl went through phases, just like every one of us. She`s happy. She doesn`t care if you like her or not.

Don't have no problem with Solange and really don't care who does what with their hair. It's just weird that two days after she cut her hair she was found in the club with a wig on. So...yeah.... Also what exactly is Amber Rose? I heard she was part black, I heard she was a Latina, and I heard she was white. I'm confused!

i like solange, her music is fun and different. i dont think she [tries too hard], she has a widely successful sister and she's gotta stand out some how.
amber rose does nothing for me; she's using kanye (or he's using her, depending on how you look at it), and she's out there with her arse hanging out... people don't seem to have a problem with her though....
i have not once heard solange's parenting abilities called into question so obviously she's doing something right, and that's what really counts.

I agree with the general message that everyone should be who they are. even if rihanna is faking, its interesting. I much prefer some variety than having everyone look like your averge Gabi/Sanaa/Lauren. Although they are also cute in their own way.
I just have to say though that Amber Rose is half Cape Verdian and half Italian. I'm not sure if that makes her white and I haven't seen her mother so i can't be definitive in this statement. But i believe that its generally accepted that Cape Verdians are black (or at most) mixed africans. I kinda feel the opposite of you about her. Because while you say people accept what she wears, i think i see a lot more of people hating on her because they think she's white.

Amen! I don't even think I could have said it better myself. I'm so happy you spoke on it. I only learned recently that Solange cut her hair off and I commended her for it. I thought it was very brave (for lack of a better word), to take on those ignorant ass people that can't see past HAIR! Is it that it's too ethnic (as ignorant ass NeNe said about her son's hair on Real Housewives of Atlanta). Not white enough to be compared with her sister anymore? What? Why do we set out to demean each other so much of the time? It's a sad situation. People are speaking out of turn and it burns me up because it basically says that there is no room in life to be YOU. That we must always be what society deems acceptable without any regard to what makes us individuals in the first place. I do hope that Solange is not somewhere letting all the negativity get to her though because it's so not worth it...
On another similar note, it amazes me that so many of US have voices now to criticize a black president, when those same MoFo's didn't have shit to say when Bush was in there fuckin up! I'm amazed...but not really.
